Wichita Falls is an incredible community that comes together to support each other when opportunities arise. We never experienced a warmer welcome from peers, new colleagues, friends, fellow adoption and pregnancy resource centers, churches and even the media upon expanding our adoption services to Wichita Falls.
We came together as a community to help launch Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services’ (PCHAS) #BirthMomStrong campaign on Thursday, August 25 starting at 4:30 p.m. for a meet and greet at PCHAS’ office location. PCHAS Western Regional Director Cynthia Winters welcomed us with a prayer and shed light on PCHAS’ expansion of its adoption services across the state for maternity clients, birth parents, adoptive families and children. We then heard from Wichita Falls Program Director Melynn Conway who shared the importance of expanding PCHAS’ adoption services in the area to serve the growing needs of children, prospective birth parents and waiting families.
The meet and greet event also hosted special guest speaker Pat Stacy, a PCHAS adoptive dad who recently (with his wife Syvilla Stacy) accepted the award for Texas Foster Parents of the Year. Pat (pictured right) shared his love and wisdom in caring for children in need with the audience, urging the community to spread the word about PCHAS’ adoptive services so that more children can be served.
We had an excellent turnout from luncheon guests with attendees from nearby pregnancy centers, churches and maternity clinics in Wichita Falls and the surrounding area. We were also grateful to meet new, prospective adoptive families. Local broadcast station KAUZ-TV (CBS News affiliate, Wichita Falls, TX) and local newspaper The Wichita Falls Times-Record News also came out to cover the event and spread the word to the community.
We want to thank all of the speakers and those who came out to the event, as well as the PCHAS Wichita Falls entire staff.
