We had a very successful, final launch event for our #BirthMomStrong campaign on Thursday, September 29 at Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services’ (PCHAS) offices in Houston. Southern Regional Director and Associate Vice President Celeste Ross kicked off the event with a prayer and shared PCHAS’ mission of Christ-centered care for maternity clients, birth parents, adoptive families and children across the state. The audience also heard from an adoptive family who shared their personal story. Houston Adoption Specialist Kelsey Wolk also shared her passion for helping clients and families across the state with their adoption services needs. She expressed the importance of supporting birthparents at all points of the process, and the importance of openness in adoption. Kelsey also expressed the sensitivities around working with birth parents and the judgment-free counseling she provides when receiving a call from a person in difficult circumstances.
We had an excellent turnout from luncheon guests with attendees from nearby pregnancy centers, churches and maternity clinics in Austin and the surrounding area. Also attending were PCHAS Ambassadors Sheila Liu and Mary Sindersen, as well as a pastor from St. Phillips Presbyterian Church. We want to thank all of the speakers and those who came out to the event, as well as PCHAS staff. See below for pictures of our Houston luncheon:
