Presbyterian Children’s Homes and Services (PCHAS) has provided Christ-centered care and support for children and families since 1903. We’ve created programs that greatly improve children’s lives – enabling their recovery from abuse, abandonment, and other forms of neglect.
PCHAS helps smooth the way for adoption, helping both maternity clients who are considering an adoption plan for their child and families looking to adopt.
We provide counseling for maternity clients during and after pregnancy. When a birth mother needs help that extends beyond six weeks after delivery, we connect her to a PCHAS Child and Family Specialist. We provide housing, medical care, and other necessities through this program.
We also guide adoptive families through the family assessment and legal process and train them so they’re prepared to bring a child into their home. We offer support and counseling every step of the way. Meet current families ready to welcome a child into their homes.
Most of the adoptions we facilitate are open adoptions, meaning the birth parents select and meet future adoptive parents. If they would like, and if they feel comfortable doing so, birth parents can maintain a close relationship with their birth child throughout the years. An open adoption benefits both birth families and adoptive families, enables children to know their birth parents and helps them learn more about their family history. Children can never have too many people who love them.
Every day, our PCHAS Maternity & Adoption Services Program transforms lives. In this issue of our newsletter, you will meet two couples who are providing “forever homes” to children who need them. You will also read about a courageous birth mother who realized the most responsible decision she could make regarding her newborn child was to allow that child to be adopted by other parents.
